Liners: Up With Capitalism
Let’s make this quick, b/c I know you kids love your meta:
Don’t look now, but Jeff Jarvis is relaying praise for Wal-mart, Microsoft, Apple and Craigslist. Dell still sucks.
Jason Calacanis calls attention to the rapid ascent of YouTube (on the shoulders of other people’s intellectual property). Taking his cue, expect movie studios to start production on a “posting our content on YouTube is like stealing from an old lady” PSA in the next week.
In the few days remaining before Hollywood shuts it down, you should be sure to head over at YouTube and check out Brokeback to the Future. IP infringement never tasted so good.
While we’re on the subject of video intellectual property, let us not forget Steven Soderbergh and Mark Cuban’s experiment in collapsed release windows, Bubble, which hits theatres, DVD, TV, and apparently Usenet today.
That’s it for today, I’ve gotta run — class is in session. Professor Rubel’s giving a lesson in how to get blog links (and yes, there is more to it than “get a link from MicroPersuasion”).

not so much praise from Jeff, just trying to be fair.

Yeah–Craigslist didn’t really belong in that list anyways; my point was definitely more focused on the Microsoft/Wal-Mart side of the praise.

Jason Calacanis does not know what he is talking about. YouTube will be around for a while and they won’t be sued. I have spoken.
