TypePad besieged by the Perfect Storm
UPDATE: Here is the latest we know about the TypePad outage, based on a conversation with Anil Dash at noon today:
- Yesterday’s maintenance window was to add another layer of redundancy to the TypePad storage system and there was a hardware failure during this process.
- Six Apart is confident they didn’t lose any data, but they’re working to ensure this before they blog about it.
- They expect to have the app up and running in a little over an hour, at which point, it might still show old pages but you can just publish and they’ll be current.
- In the meantime they are showing older cached pages.
Anil described the hardware failure during the maintenance window as “the perfect storm”. George Clooney is reportedly in negotiations to play Ben Trott in the movie version of this saga.
UPDATE: Typepad is back up, partially. They’re still working on restoring images to all of the blogs, but users can now login and post/publish. Wonder if anyone will post about the outage?

I posted about the outage. It blows. Typepad may be poised to go the way of the Teddy Ruxpin.
