Adam Curry defends his revisionism in Wikipedia’s podcasting entry
There’s a rumble in the jungle over edits of Wikipedia’s podcasting entry. The entry’s discussion page has accusations of ego edits, counter-accusations of conspiracy theories, and appeals to stupidity as a preferable explanation to evil. This is the fallout from a rapid battery of revisions (about 175 since Thursday) made over the weekend.
Rogers Cadenhead, in his essay on Harold Gilchrist’s role in podcasting’s history, quips, “I don’t want to get into an argument with Adam Curry, because he has better production values.”
Cadenhead is referring to Curry’s Friday podcast [shownotes] in which Curry tells his side of the controversy. He gives his history of podcasting (”And on the sixth day was made Adam, and he was to name all the animals of the field”). Then he snipes at Wikipedia with the old “it’d be nice to have something authoritative.”
Cadenhead wrote about Curry’s incident on Thursday. Finally, kudos to Shelley Powers for working to fix the problem, and for the photo of a rabid camel.
